Once your administrator has installed Deal Desk 365 and given you a license and a Deal Desk security role, open the Deal Desk app from your app list. First-time setup (templates, pricing rules, and approval policies) is a one-time administrator task; after that, sellers just build quotes, and margin and approvals work automatically.
The three areas
The app has three areas in the left navigation:
- Sales — Quotes, Accounts, and Products.
- Approvals — Approval Requests.
- Configuration — Quote Templates, Pricing Rules, Approval Policies, and Price Lists.
What your role lets you do
What you see and can do depends on your security role:
- A Seller builds quotes and submits them for approval.
- An Approver decides on submitted quotes.
- An Administrator uses the Configuration area to set up templates, pricing rules, and approval policies.
Roles stack, so one person can hold two or all three. See Roles and permissions.
First-time setup is covered in Set up Deal Desk 365 after installing. Until an administrator has turned on Govern Pricing for your price list and created at least one pricing rule and one approval policy, quotes will not show margin or route for approval.
Your first quote
- Build a quote from a template and adjust it in the quote line editor. Add many lines at once with bulk line entry from Excel.
- Watch cost and margin update as you discount, and fix any line flagged as below floor, or expect it to route for approval.
- Submit the quote for approval. Within the guardrails it can be approved automatically; otherwise an approver decides from a single screen.
- Generate the quote document and send it.
