Short answers to the questions we hear most often before and after installing Deal Desk 365.
Do I need a separate CPQ system?
No. Deal Desk 365 adds quoting, pricing governance, and discount approval directly inside Dynamics 365 Sales. There is nothing separate to buy, learn, or integrate.
Is this a product configurator?
No. It assembles and approves quotes. There is no constraint solving, guided selling, or product-compatibility rules; that is a different and much larger category, and it is deliberately out of scope.
Does it replace Dynamics 365 pricing?
No. It layers on top of standard Sales pricing and is opt-in per price list, so it governs only the price lists you designate and never touches the rest.
Does my data leave my tenant?
No. Deal Desk 365 installs into your own environment, and your quotes, pricing, and approvals stay there, including document generation.
Does it change Microsoft's quote tables or forms?
No. It adds its own tables and columns, and surfaces those columns on its own copies of the standard forms: a Deal Desk quote form with the line editor, plus a Deal Desk tab on the Product, Account, and Price List forms. Microsoft's components are never modified, so Sales updates continue to apply as normal.
Can it handle multiple currencies?
Yes. A quote's margin is computed in the quote's currency, using the exchange rates you maintain in Dynamics 365.
Are Seller, Approver, and Administrator separate plans?
No. There is one license and three roles. Your admin assigns Seller, Approver, Administrator, or any combination. See Roles and permissions.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Deal Desk 365 has a 30-day free trial on Microsoft AppSource. The plan is licensed per named user with a ten-seat minimum, and every user of the app needs a license.
