One environment variable, Recognise Warranty On Approval, controls whether Approved warranty claims count toward a work order's warranty recovery. It defaults to Yes, which is accrual-style recognition; set it to No for cash-style recognition where only Recovered claims count.
The two settings
| Value | Which claims reduce net cost |
|---|---|
| Yes (default) | Approved and Recovered claims. Accrual-style: the recovery is recognized when the manufacturer approves it. |
| No | Recovered claims only. Cash-style: the recovery is recognized when the money arrives. |
Draft, Submitted, and Rejected claims never count under either setting.
Change the setting
- In Power Apps, open Solutions and select Job Margin 365.
- Open Environment variables and select Recognise Warranty On Approval.
- Set the Current value to Yes or No and save.
No code change is required. Changing it needs a System Customizer or System Administrator role in Power Apps; it is separate from the Job Margin Setup role, which governs rate cards and overhead rules inside the app.
Apply it to existing margins
The setting is read each time a margin is calculated, so work orders completed before the change keep their old recovery figure until something triggers a recalculation. To update a completed work order, edit one of its warranty claims or re-complete the work order. See Read a work order's margin.
