Job Margin 365 ships three security roles. Rate cards and overhead rules set the numbers behind every job's margin, so the ability to change them is limited to the Setup role; everyone else can see them but not edit them.
The three roles
| Role | Can do |
|---|---|
| Job Margin 365 - Setup | Everything a User can do, plus create and edit rate cards, rate card lines, and overhead rules. Give it to the people who own how your costs are calculated. |
| Job Margin 365 - User | Day-to-day use: record cost entries and warranty claims, complete work orders, and view all margins, rate cards, and overhead rules. |
| Job Margin 365 - Read Only | View margins, rate cards, overhead rules, and agreements. No New, Save, or Delete anywhere in the app. |
A User or Read Only user still sees the Setup area; the rate cards and overhead rules there are read-only for them.
Assigning roles
Roles are assigned by an administrator in the Power Platform admin center under Settings → Users + permissions → Users, on top of the user's existing Field Service role. See Install and set up Job Margin 365.
Licenses are separate from roles
A role does not grant access on its own. Every user who opens the Job Margin app also needs a Job Margin 365 license, including read-only users. See Requirements and licensing.
The warranty recognition setting is separate too
The Recognise Warranty On Approval environment variable lives in the Power Apps maker portal and needs a System Customizer or System Administrator to change. It is not governed by the Job Margin roles. See Warranty recognition setting.
