Getting started with Job Margin 365

Updated September 9, 2026

Once your administrator has installed Job Margin 365 and given you a license and a security role, open the Job Margin app from your app list. First-time setup is rate cards first, overhead rules second, and after that margins calculate on their own as work orders are completed.

The three areas

The app has three areas in the left navigation:

  • Margin — Work Orders, Work Order Margins, Agreement Margins, and Cost Entries.
  • Setup — Rate Cards and Overhead Rules.
  • Warranty — Warranty Claims.

First-time setup

  1. Create your rate cards. Every labor cost entry is costed from a rate card line, so nothing calculates until at least one active card covers your resources.
  2. Optionally set up overhead rules. Without a rule, overhead is zero and the margin still calculates.
  3. Start recording cost entries against work orders as work happens.
  4. Complete a work order. Its Work Order Margin appears automatically.

Editing rate cards and overhead rules requires the Job Margin 365 - Setup role. Users with the User or Read Only role can open the Setup area and view them, but not change them. See Roles and permissions.
