Job Margin 365 needs three things: Dynamics 365 Field Service in the environment, a Job Margin 365 license for every person who opens the app, and a Job Margin 365 security role for each of them.
Environment
- Dynamics 365 Field Service must be installed. Job Margin 365 adds its own tables, columns, and a work-order form; it does not modify Microsoft's components.
- Job Margin 365 installs into your own Dataverse environment. Your data stays in your tenant.
- Sovereign clouds (US Government, US Government High, Department of Defense, and China) are not supported.
Licenses
- Every user who opens the Job Margin app needs a Job Margin 365 license, including read-only users. Read-only is a security role, not a cheaper plan.
- Users also need their existing Dynamics 365 Field Service license, or another base Dynamics 365 license that grants Field Service access.
- Licenses are assigned in the Microsoft 365 admin center under Billing → Licenses.
Security roles
Job Margin 365 ships three roles: Job Margin 365 - Setup, Job Margin 365 - User, and Job Margin 365 - Read Only. Each user needs one of them in addition to their Field Service role. See Roles and permissions.
What you do not need
- Power BI or Microsoft Fabric. Dashboards are built-in Dataverse views and charts.
- Dynamics 365 Project Operations or Finance & Operations. Job Margin 365 exists so Field Service customers can see job profitability without them.
- An ERP connector. Costs are captured in Field Service; your finance system keeps the books.
