Short answers to the questions we hear most often before and after installing Job Margin 365.
Do I need Power BI or Microsoft Fabric?
No. Job Margin 365 uses built-in Dataverse views, charts, and the margin waterfall. There is no extra analytics capacity to buy. You can point your own Power BI at the data if you want to, but nothing requires it.
Do I need Project Operations or Finance & Operations?
No. Job Margin 365 exists precisely so Field Service customers can see job profitability without those licenses. Microsoft retired the Field Service to Finance & Operations integration, with support ending 28 February 2027, and the sanctioned replacement is a Project Operations license most Field Service customers do not carry.
Does my data leave my tenant?
No. Job Margin 365 installs into your own Dataverse environment and your data stays there.
Does it change Microsoft's work order tables or forms?
No. It adds its own tables, columns, and a work-order form. It does not modify Microsoft's components, so it does not create an unmanaged layer in your environment.
Can it handle multiple currencies?
Yes. A job's margin is computed in the work order's currency. Agreement roll-ups across currencies use the base-currency amounts, converted with the exchange rates you maintain in Dynamics 365.
Do technicians have to enter their hours twice?
In the current version, cost entries are created by hand; Job Margin 365 does not generate them from bookings or work order lines. Labor entries are then costed automatically from the rate card, so the only data entered is the resource, date, shift band, and hours.
Is Job Margin 365 an accounting system?
No. It reports cost, revenue, and margin. Invoicing, accounts payable and receivable, tax, payroll, and the general ledger stay in your finance system.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Job Margin 365 has a 30-day free trial on Microsoft AppSource with no card required. Every user of the app needs a license, including read-only users.
